Closer to a Cure for Cance

Mice immune to cancer

I heard on KCRW this morning about a mouse that was found to be immune to cancer in 1999. Of course the scientist bred the mouse and many of its offspring inherited the immunity trait.

Recently they discovered that they could inject the blood of one of these immune mice into another mouse with advanced cancer and the existing cancer infection would be irradiated. As an additional bonus, the ordinary mouse injected with the immune blood would also become immune to new infections of cancer!

I thought this article would be interesting since last year Sarina’s father was diagnosed with cancer, one of Jamie’s Aunts was recently diagnosed and a co-worker from Universal (Randy you are a great guy and will be greatly missed!) passed from cancer 2 weeks ago.
